Tasting Notes from the Winemaker
- Colour: intense, bright straw yellow with a subtle green shimmer.
- Smell: Fruity aromas of apricots, mandarins and passion fruit mix with aromatic scent components of elderflower, gooseberry and mint.
- Taste: The fruity impression continues on the palate, paired with a fine acidity. The good structure and the mineral and at the same time aromatic finish are particularly impressive.
Food Pairing Suggestions from the Winemaker
- In the spring months it is very interesting in combination with cooked white asparagus and Bozen sauce, but also with steamed green asparagus; with tuna carpaccio, smoked salmon or raw langoustine; also typically South Tyrolean with nettle dumplings but also with steamed trout with vegetables or young goat’s cheese.
About: Straight from them to you!
Sometimes you have to try new things to preserve tradition. This requires courage and solidarity. Both were certainly not lacking in Terlan when the Terlan wine cooperative was founded in 1893. What was a tremendous innovation at the time has proven itself to this day. Terlan wine has made the small village world famous, at least among wine lovers.
The Terlan winery was founded in 1893 at a time when agriculture was one of the most important economic factors in the country. Apart from a few wine pioneers who, following the example of the Rheingau, brought developments and grape varieties from Germany and France to South Tyrol over 100 years ago, agriculture was backward and dominated by a few large landowners. In the world of wine, the wine lords therefore set the tone. In order to escape this dependence, 24 winegrowers in Terlan joined forces and founded the Terlan winery.

About: The Winemaker!
Aurelia Vișinescu, co-owner and winemaker at Domeniile Săhăteni, commenced her journey in the wine industry three decades ago. She initially entered the field by joining a Romanian wine export company, following the fall of the communism. In love with nature and interested in cultivating flowers, Aurelia made the decision to pursue oenology while attending Horticulture University. She was fascinated by the wine science. Aurelia was the first to vinify Fetească Neagră, a variety native to Romania, as a dry wine, which later became Romania’s most famous and beloved grape variety.
