(Carefully curated notes below are taken from the Producer’s website)

Varietal Composition Pinot Noir

Location Willamette Valley, Oregon

Drink Now or Cellar? Enjoy now or cellar through 2029

A Few More Details from the Producer:

Avni Pinot Noir includes a third of the fruit coming from LSV, our estate. The other sources include a site in Yamhill-Carlton on Jory soils, and Loubejac in the Van Duzer Corridor, a cold site on Willakenzie marine sediment. This year we added a source to the blend from the recently created Mt. Pisgah region with its uplifted marine sedimentary soils.

Tasting Notes

Avni Pinot Noir reflects the optimal growing conditions of the season, creating highly developed and complex flavors. With aroma’s of plum, pomegranate, bergamot, and rose. It has velvety tannins and fresh acidity, with flavors of graphite, black tea, plum, and clove. The overall impression is of voluptuous harmony with a long juicy finish.

Food Pairing

  • Hot smoked salmon or seared trout —The wine’s acidity and tea-like notes complement smoky richness beautifully
  • Roasted or grilled chicken/turkey —Acidity balances the meat’s weight; herb and subtle gaminess echo savory Pinot details
  • Mushroom risotto, truffle pasta, or wild mushroom tart —Earthy depth resonates with the wine’s graphite, tea, and forest-floor nuances
  • Grilled pork chops or veal, lightly seasoned —Offers a balanced pairing where fruit and slight char interplay with tannins .

From them to you:

At precisely 4 pm on December 31st, 2012, Larry completed this once-in-a-lifetime acquisition. The Janzen Farm, sought after for over 40 years by the finest names in Oregon winemaking, was now in his hands to develop. Following low-impact, organic, and biodynamic farming principles under the guidance of dear friend and renowned regenerative viticulturist Mimi Casteel, our estate vineyard was planted with different combinations of rootstock and budwood to reflect the varying soil conditions within the vineyard. Widely respected as one of the top winemakers in Burgundy, Dominique Lafon took notice of this exceptional vineyard site and joined Larry Stone, alongside winemaking protégé Thomas Savre, to craft uniquely expressive wines harnessing the unique terroir of Oregon.

From them to you:

At Lady Hill Winery, we believe that exceptional wine begins with a deep connection to the land. Our philosophy is simple: what grows together, goes together. This principle guides everything we do, from the cultivation of our vineyards to the preparation of our farm-to-table experiences.

Our estate spans 150 acres of pristine Oregon countryside, where our vineyards share the landscape with organic gardens, heritage orchards, and pastures for our livestock. This diverse ecosystem creates a self-sustaining environment that enriches the soil, supports beneficial insects and wildlife, and ultimately produces wines with a true sense of place.

We practice sustainable viticulture and farming methods that honor the natural cycles of the land. By minimizing intervention in the vineyard and the cellar, we allow the authentic character of our terroir to shine through in every bottle we produce and every meal we serve
