A Few More Details from the Producer:
The name Torii Mor derives from the Torii gate in the property’s Japanese garden and the ancient Scandinavian word for earth. Together, the name is a nod to Pinot Noir’s expression of terroir and connection to the earth.
Tasting Notes
he wine displays rich aromas of fresh raspberries, sweet and plump dark cherries with complex mushrooms-earth-oak notes and framed by notes of vanilla and spices. The flavors are forward yet elegant with harmony of acidity, sweetness and spiciness leading to fresh bright red and dark fruit. The wine is enhanced by aspects of white pepper and oak spices and a touch of earth complexity. The mouthfeel is lush, complex and spicy. The finish is long, opulent and sweet, with the complexity of fruit, zesty tannins and savory earth notes.

From them to you:
Dr. Donald Olson moved to Oregon to pursue his vision. He purchased an older vineyard in the Willamette Valley, planted in 1972, and renamed it Olson Estate Vineyard. High in the Dundee Hills, the ten acres of old vines produce high-quality Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay year after year. After the first vintage in 1993 with just 1,000 cases, Torii Mor today produces 10,000 cases of wines of elegance and balance that Don began pursuing years ago. Torii Mor continues to pursue elegance in wine making, respect for the earth, and balanced wines that can be enjoyed for years to come.

From them to you:
It was a crisp spring day in April 2013 when Thibault Gagey and Jacques Lardière set out to survey a well-established Oregon vineyard named Resonance tucked into the hills of the coast range near Carlton. Jacques had just retired after leading winemaking at Maison Louis Jadot for 42 years, and Thibault, whose family has operated Maison Louis Jadot since 1962, was ready to enter the business with a bold new project. They immediately felt a deep connection with the place, and after tasting through dozens of wines made with the vineyard’s fruit, Jacques sat back and said, “Perfect.” Pierre-Henry Gagey, the President of Maison Louis Jadot and Thibault’s father, agreed. They decided to keep the vineyard’s title, and they also named their new winery—Maison Louis Jadot’s first outside of Burgundy—in its honor. With the same meaning in English and French, Résonance evokes many great things to come. They added the tiny but all-important accent mark to represent this small but special connection between Oregon and France.
