2005 Owen Roe, DuBrul Vineyard Merlot
We just can’t stop loving the wines from this Oregon producer. Owen Roe is the label that winemaker David O’Reilly reserves for his best, and most limited wines. And his wines from Yakima’s DuBrul Vineyard in the Rattlesnake Hills are his most precious. This is the only single vineyard bottling of Merlot he makes and it is intense, beautifully structured and remarkably age-worthy. While it can be enjoyed now, it could easily be cellared up to 2014, when it would be an excellent accompaniment to spring lamb, or rich beef dishes. We grabbed just enough for the club, and there is none left, but it was $45.00.

2003 Walla Walla Vintners, Sagemoor Vineyard Cuvée
We featured Walla Walla Vintners’ Sagemoor Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon in our January club. We’ve been holding on to a small amount of this wine for a while now, waiting for a chance to slip it into the club as well. Once again, this is a stunning example of how great wine begins in the vineyard, in this case, Sagemoor, which is under the highly skilled hands of some of the best wine growers in Washington. Made from selected blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cab Franc, this Bordeaux blend is fruit forward and full of lush, layered flavor. Best enjoyed now, through 2010, this is another wine to pair with meat dishes, or other hearty fare. At $39.75 this one, too, is gone.
