2002 Reininger, Cima
This is Chuck Reininger’s latest release of his Cima which, you may recall, we featured in the November 2006 club. He has dubbed this blend of 56% Sangiovese, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon and 22% Merlot, a “SuperWallan” after the so-called SuperTuscan wines that inspired it. A patient and meticulous winemaker, Chuck never rushes release—this one has been aged for three and a half years in barrel. Enjoy this versatile wine now, or give it a few years to develop even further. He made 218 cases, only ten of which made it to Seattle. It’s $49.75 and we may be able to get a bit more.

2005 Beresan, Syrah
Here’s another winery you’ve seen before; we featured the Beresan Stone River Blend back in January 2007. This wine is 100% Syrah, from Pepper Bridge and Yellow Jacket Vineyards both managed by Beresan owner and vineyard manager extraordinaire, Tom Waliser. In the competent hands of winemaker Tom Glase, this wine is an intense, yet soft expression of the fruit, with silky tannins, black pepper, and a nice, traditional earthiness. Give it a few more years in the bottle, then enjoy it with pepper steak, osso bucco, or hearty veggie dishes. They made 170 cases and we should be able to get more. It’s $29.00.
