Where: 6026 California Avenue SW, Seattle, WA 98136
Wines: Italian Wines
Artist: Ben Smith (who also happens to be one of our favorite Washington winemakers!)
From the Artist:
Benjamin Smith grew up in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from the Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. In 1986 he moved to Seattle where he spent the next 14 years working in airplane design and safety, focusing on flight control systems for the Boeing 737 and 757 airliners. He founded Cadence Winery in 1998 with his wife and business partner Gaye McNutt. Cadence is Washington’s leading producer of vineyard designated Bordeaux blends. He was named Seattle Magazine Winemaker of the Year in 2012, and Cadence has been honored as an Artisan Winery of the Year five times by Wine & Spirits Magazine.
Ben’s photographic interest began in high school with an old Minolta SLR. He built his own 4×5 view camera and hauled it all over the Cascades for several years. Thirty years later his Sony A7ii is considerably lighter but he still loves to use up to 50-year old vintage lenses on the camera. He strives for an uncluttered view of natural and architectural beauty in the world around us.
